Netball Superleague is a great night out for all of the family, with non-stop action packed sport and entertainment on offer at every game!

Netball Superleague is an event like no other in Newcastle – along with top level Netball, we have fun filled half-time activities for children and live performances from Northumbria’s very own North Star Cheerleaders - making it a family night out like no other!

Team Northumbria are big players in Netball, competing in both the UK’s Netball Superleague and Netball Performance League competitions.

Overview

History

The Netball Super League (NSL) was founded in 2005 by England Netball and is the highest level of competition in the country. NSL combines the finest players in the UK along with international stars from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Wales, Namibia and Scotland. The league runs from January to May and features 8 Franchises from England and Wales.

Youth programmes - Starlight Netball & TN Futures

The Team Northumbria Futures programme is designed to provide young netballers with the opportunity to gain exposure to the Team Northumbria Netball Superleague setup, additional coaching sessions from our NSL coaches and players to enhance team and individual development and competitive opportunities against other franchises.

The TN Futures programme is not a substitute for school/club/county/regional; rather it is designed to support school, club and performance pathway training.

The TN Futures squad have been selected for the 2015/16 Season.

Information regarding the trials 2016/17 Season will be available from September 2016.

Now into our 5th year, our Starlight Girls programme invites all clubs from the North East to nominate 4 players from Years 7 or 8, who they feel have 'playing potential' and show exceptional commitment to come and ‘train like a Superleague player’!

 

Who?

The Starlight programme invites NE netball clubs to nominate 4 talented players from school years 7 or 8 who are of a high standard and whom will benefit from additional sessions and exposure to the NSL setup.

What?

Nominated players will attend 3 coaching sessions delivered by Team Northumbria players and coaches during April 2016 including court based sessions and work with our Strength & Conditioning coaches.

Additionally, players will complete the 2016 Starlight programme by taking part in a mini curtain raiser tournament on the NSL court on the 23rd April before joining us as our guests for the final NSL home game of the season.

Each participant will receive a Starlight T-shirt, certificate and match tickets for 23th April.

When?

Date: Wednesday 6th April

Time: 7pm – 9pm (Starlight launch session)

Date: Wednesday 13th and 20th April

Time: 7pm-9pm

Date: Saturday 23rd April

Time: 2pm (Curtain Raiser Tournament - TBC)

(Followed by tickets to the NPL game 4.30pm start and the NSL game 6.30pm start)

How?

Each NE club can nominate 4 players who have shown commitment, talent and potential. Complete the form attached and return to the contact email address below. We will then contact the parents with further details.

Cost?

£30 per player for the full Starlight programme.

Want to be a Ball Girls/Boys or Mascots
Why not nominate your school or club to be ball girls/boys or Match day mascots for one of our forthcoming fixtures?

 

Ball Girls/Boys

You can nominate your school or club, and if successful, you will be allocated one of our home games where you can have between 4 and 8 young people as Ball Girls/Boys.

Open to ages 11+. 

 

Match Day Mascots

Your school or club could be our official match day mascots. You will be our welcome team on court as the players run on and take your seats behind the Team Northumbria bench before heading onto court at half time to take part in a short court session with one of our coaches. Open to children and young people of all ages. You will be allocated a game and be able to bring up to 12 people as mascots.

Player Appearances

Request an appearance from one of our NSL players to visit your school or club.

A player appearance usually consists of a 10min chat about their athlete story and a 20-30min fun coaching session with the player.

All player appearances with be supervised by a Northumbria university staff member. All staff are registered/cleared with the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) with an enhanced check.

Open to ages 7+

Sport Academy Netball Camps

We are running a 2 Day NSL Netball Camp in February Half Term. Click on the link below for further details and how to book.

Our Two Day Netball camps are delivered by our Team Northumbria players and coaches at our home venue, Sport Central.

TN Masterclass

Do you want to become the next Superleague Star? Then these attacking and defensive masterclasses will help you learn some great new skills whilst having lots of fun.

We will be running a TN Masterclass Camp on 4th April, 2016.

The day will run from 9am-5pm and will include specific workshops focusing on Strength and Conditioning, Attack, Defence and court specific clinics.

The masterclass camp will be available to book from the 22nd February 2016.

Parking facilities are available from 16:00 at City Campus East on weekdays and at weekends for only £2.00 all day. The car park is labelled P next to Falconar Street on the map. Click here to view.

Other Newcastle Council car parks can be found here. All council operated multi-storey car parks are free after 17:00 from Monday to Saturday.
